The networking options of Sprite Backup provides the flexibility of selecting and configuring the remote locations for your backup files. From the Networking options you can control all remote backup operations.
PC: Provides the options available for PC backup operations.
FTP: Provides the options available for FTP backup operations.
Connection: Allows you to control the connection type that you wish to use for your remote backups.
SPB Backup does not have any equivalent functionality.

Backup to PC Options

Backup to PC Options

Enabling ‘PC Backup’ will allow backup and restore to and from a PC that is accessible via ActiveSync or via your wifi or phone network.
Choosing the ‘Remote Connection’ type allows you to select whether the PC will be attached to the device via ActiveSync (docked) or via a TCP/IP network (e.g. WiFi). If you select ‘Via ActiveSync’ only the ‘Use Default Port’ option will become available. If you select ‘Via Network’ you will have both options available ‘Use Default Port’ and ‘Host Name’.
The ‘Hostname’ and ‘Port’ control which PC the Mobile Device will connect to when connecting via the network.
The ‘Test’ button to quickly verify that your network settings are correct.
SPB Backup does not have any equivalent functionality.

FTP Options

Backup to Remote FTP Server

Enabling ‘FTP Backup’ will allow backup and restore to and from an ‘FTP’ location that is accessible via ActiveSync or your wifi or phone network.
The ‘Hostname’ is your full FTP address.
Use the ‘Test’ button to test the connection to your FTP server. If the details are incorrect or you cannot connect the test function will provide detailed information on any problems encountered.
SPB Backup does not have any equivalent functionality.
The ‘Use Custom Path’ field is used to enter the path for the default folder on your FTP server. This option is used to save backup files to a specific location on the FTP server.
The ‘Passive Mode’ causes Sprite Backup to use the passive mode type connection to connect to the FTP server. In passive mode FTP the client initiates both connections to the server, solving the problem of firewalls filtering the incoming data port connection to the client from the server.
The ‘Support Folders’ option is used to display all available folders on your FTP server account.
