Nic Strong - Chief Technical Officer
Nic has extensive international experience designing, developing and delivering large Telecommunications projects for over 10 years. After returning to New Zealand in 2002 after a 5 year stint in London, he joined Sprite Software as a founding developer and architect. During his time at Sprite he has been key to the design and delivery of Sprite’s flagship products and, more recently, in developing a technical strategy for the next generation of Sprite technology. Nic’s interests include Open Source software development, snowboarding and relaxing with his wife and dogs at his coastal home in Auckland. Nic holds a BSc (Hons) Computer Science from the University of Auckland.
Shane Powell - Senior Software Architect
Shane started at Symantec in 1998, after their purchase of Ghost. Whilst there, he rose to the level of Senior Software Architect maintaining large sections of the hugely popular Symantec Ghost application. He rejoined Sprite in 2006 as our Software Architect in charge of the continued development of Sprite Backup, instrumental in its rise to become the #1 mobile phone backup application, installed on over 10 million devices the worldwide In his spare time Shane can be found modifying and racing Japanese cars, and then when he needs something a little calmer, photography, gardening and playing computer games.
Daniel McLaren - Art Director
Daniel is an award-winning Usability, Graphic Designer and Branding Specialist with vast international experience over a 13 year period. Previously the Creative Director of Reuters in London and New York, he has consulted for a esteemed roster of companies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Yahoo, IBM, HSBC, Lloyds, Merrill Lynch and Air New Zealand. Winner of numerous design awards from Qantas Media Award, Site of the Year, CWA New Media Award and more. He is now founding Director of RawCircus Media, specialists in all things web. At Sprite he’s been working closely with the Marketing team (he might say too closely) to define the Virtual Mobile Corporate Design and User Experience. Gareth Hordyk - Development Manager
Gareth is a new member of the Sprite team and brings with him years of development management experience. Beginning his career designing animatronic robots for Jim Henson’s Creature Shop he's usually worked in technology development for use in film and TV. For several years he ran his own development company, developing technologies that you can see in several high profile movies like Batman Begins or Harry Potter. At Sprite he is in charge of development, a varied position that sees him coordinate and supervise developers as well as liaising with Marketing, QA, Customer Service, all the departments at Sprite to make sure the products we deliver are outstanding and worthy of the Sprite name. Should work not provide enough adrenaline, out of hours he likes to jump off mountains in a paraglider, raft rapids or go Mountain Biking.
