Neil,
Thanks for the feedback.
We'll test the scheduled backup with a HP 568 today and let you know how I get on. I know that we've tested with Casio, HP 540, iPAQ 3800, 3900 and these work ok. Version 1.1 is the first version to offer completely unattended backup, (rather than requiring the user to choose to proceed) and it does rely in the system timers and notifications.
As far as the 2nd issue goes, the delay is because the application is populating the backup page file system tree (which can take time, especially if you have a storage card with lots of files installed). We're in the process of moving this to a lazy initialisation scheme, and this "feature" will be included in the next version. In the meantime, one possible workaround is to remove your storage card (if you have one inserted), and then re-insert it after the application has started.
Have done a quick test on our 568 and everything worked ok.
It is possible that other applications have registered for system notifcations and that these are getting processed before the Pocket Backup apps process the event, but it's hard to say without some more diagnostic info from you.
Can you email me if you're ok with us sending you a diagnostic app?

Hmmm...are you running Pocket Backup from the HP Safestore? That's where I installed it since it seems illogical to install it to main RAM. If I loose my RAM contents, I still have Pocket Backup safe in ROM and can easily perform a restore. If your test was done with PB in SafeStore, let me know. Thanks for looking into this.

Installed in safe store and worked ok. Have you got any apps installed that might interfere with timers (like SuperAlert)?

The apps that I have installed which run on soft reset are GigaTask v2.05 (www.gigatask.com), MeetingMute v1.22 (www.pocketconcepts.com), HP Task Switcher, SpaceMaker, and the following apps which are also present in the startup folder (hpbod, poutlook, EVMON). However, the same problem occured even after I removed the shortcuts for hpbod, potlook, and EVMON from the startup folder.
