Virtual Mobile now in Alpha for Symbian devices

Virtual Mobile for Symbian S60 3rd edition phones is finally ready to been taken for a spin by a small group of alpha testers. While it's still early days for the Symbian release, we're keen to let some alpha testers try out the service.

We’re really excited to get you onboard, but we should start with a few warnings:

  • This is our first alpha release, errors, bugs, confusion and frustration are all a guarantee. But we’ll quickly fix things up with your help.
  • Although we’ve tested extensively internally, we have little guarantee it won’t cause problems with your device, if you have a secondary device we would recommend you use that, if not then backup all your data.

Current we know of the following problems with this release:

  • Photo changes are not shown on the status screen.  A sync will still send the photos online.
  • Photos do not show online, until all images have been uploaded.

How to setup the service:

  1. Before you can use this application you'll need to open an account online from your PC

  2. Download and Install the Application (please make sure you install the application on your device and NOT an a storage card):  http://m.virtualmobile.com

  3. Enter the device verification code we sent to you as an SMS to confirm your device.

  4. You can launch VM client by clicking on the Virtual Mobile icon in the Applications folder. Complete the account settings to setup your device for a sync. To sync your data the first time please go to: Options/Advanced/Send all phone data

  5. Perform your first sync and head back to the website to see your data and try our features!

A getting started document is available here: Getting Started

Remember that we are still in alpha so bugs are likely to occur, but with your help we'll get them fixed up in no time.

Please keep feedback coming in to our Get Satisfaction support area:

Let us know how you get on!!!
